Dathan is in the white shirt. This picture was taken 2009 at my 29th Birthday party.
When I think about the title of my post, I think about Boyz II Men song. It is hard to say goodbye.
Today was so sad and bittersweet at church as we said goodbye to my choir director and friend, Dathan Thigpen. A month ago, he told us he, his wife and son were moving to Atlanta. We were soo shocked, but I had a feeling it was coming.
He has been our choir director and worship leader for I think 8 years. We both came to Word of Faith the same year in 2003 and when I joined the choir in 2005, he was about to come our future choir director/worship leader.
How Dathan and I met. Dathan and I met in 2001 when we both were working at WAPT here in Jackson. He was the cameraman, I was interning with the weather department. Years later when Dathan met me again, he thought I was soo stuck up and didn't want to say hello to him when I was there. I have to admit. I don't remembered him back then, but that's another story. Flash forward to 2003. We were both started to attend Word of Faith at the same time.
Dathan and I have a sister/brother relationship. I'm 8 months older than him and he always called me Chandra Levy(the dead intern) because my name was almost the same. When he called me that, I always come back with Nathan instead of Dathan. An inside joke between us.
