We lost another legend.

Today the music world lost another legend.  Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees died today after a long battle with cancer. He was 62.  We lost Donna Summer a few days ago to cancer and now we get the news about Robin losing his battle with cancer.

He, his older brother Barry and twin brother Maurice made up the group we called The Bee Gees. You had Barry with his baritone and sometimes falsetto voice.  Robin with his rich vibrato tenor voice and Maurice blended in with his brothers. I have to say they are one of the best groups of all times behind the Beatles. Their harmonies were very tight and very well known.  I have to say The Bee Gees and The Osmonds are known for their tight harmonies.  You don't see that these days.

His twin brother, Maurice died in 2003.  His younger brother, Andy died in 1988.  Barry becomes the only surviving member of the Bee Gees.  Its sad that this is now the end of the Bee Gees.

Robin will be miss.  We will miss you, Robin.  RIP

Here are some of my favorite Bee Gees that Robin sings.

Finally new music by the Osmonds

My favorite group, The Osmonds, just released their new CD called Can't Get There Without You.  Its probably been since the 80s the Osmonds had new music. I have to say. I love love love this CD. This is my favorite first Osmond CD with new music.  Since I was born 1980, I didn't buy their albums in the 70s.

I have so many favorite songs on this CD, but the ones I seem to repeat a lot is Fall to Fly, Breakable and Will You Go With Me.  I really hope the guys do a few albums.

The Temptations vs The Osmonds version of I Can't Get Next To You

I was watching Dancing With the Stars and its Motown Week this week. They had The Temptations, Smokey Robinson and Martha Reeves singing live on the show.  Each dancers had either one of those three singing as they danced. They were all great except Martha Reeves.  She was way off key.  They 4 white guys group called Human Nature singing different Motown songs either going into commercial and singing coming back from commercial. They were great.  I would definitely see them in concert.

Anyway. The Temptations sung a song that another group sang just around that time and they still sing this in concert.  The Temptations sang I Can't Get Next to You.  . The first group that came into my mind was The Osmonds.  The song was part of Motown Special, Making Music Medley and of course Havin' A Party/I Can't Get Next to You Medley in concert. The first time they recorded "I Can't Get Next to You" was part of a medley called Motown Special. They didn't record the whole song until 1974 on their Love Me For A Reason album.  The Temptations' version came out in 1969 and went to number 1. I still love both versions.

The two groups in action dancing to I Can't Get Next to You.

The song comes in at 2:29.

The song comes in at 3:38.

Maybe I'm bias, but I love The Osmonds version. Even though half the song is played in concert today.

Get Well Soon Wayne.

I first met Wayne in September 2009 when I was in Branson. It was my first time Branson. He and his wife, Kathy were the first Osmonds I met when I first arrived in Branson.  Talk about being at the right place at the right time.

Since then, I became friends with Wayne and Kathy.  He was my Scrabble buddy.  I had fun playing Scrabble with him and to this day I still haven't beat him. LOL Every time he saw me when I went to Branson, he knew my name.

A few months ago, Wayne had to retire after having a stroke and so many people miss him.  In honor of Wayne, fans would wear orange.  That was Wayne's signature color in the 70s and we sure miss him.

Here are a few pictures of Wayne in action.

My last picture with Wayne.  Who would had thought this would be my last time seeing Wayne. :-(
He's a soul man!!

We will miss you, Wayne!!!

Goodbye to America's Oldest Teenager

When you hear the phrase "America's Oldest Teenager", who comes to your head.  That's right. Dick Clark. Dick Clark passed away yesterday from a massive attack.  He was 82.

People will remembered him from the show "American Bandstand" which was on the air from 1957 to 1987. So many people got their start on American Bandstand. With over 30 years on the air, a lot of singers appeared on the show.  Singers like Prince, Madonna, John Travolta, ABBA, Aerosmith, The Bee Gees, The Beach Boys and many more(Here's a list of all the artists that appeared on American Bandstand: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_acts_who_appeared_on_American_Bandstand).

The Jacksons

He was also a game show host.  He was host of $10,00 Pyramid, The New $25,00 Pyramid, and the $100,00 Pyramid. He hosted the different types of pyramids from 1974 to 1988.  Old episodes are shown the GSN(The Game Show Network).  One of my favorite game shows.

He was a great producer. He produced so many shows. One of my favorites was Donny and Marie Talk Show from 1998-2000.

He was the host of TV Bloopers & Practical Jokes with the late Ed McMahon from 1984 to 2007.  A show I grew up watching.

When we didn't have dates for New Year, he would be our dates We would watch his Rockin' Eve shows every New Year's Eve.  This show is still on the air and has been on his 1974.

He was a great man and he will be greatly missed.

RIP Dick Clark

To pull or not to pull. That is question.

I went to the dentist last and I was told I needed a root canal. This would had been my third one since middle school.  I was told the price and definitely couldn't afford it.  So I went to the dentist yesterday and pull out the tooth.

I was took yesterday off of work and I'm glad I did. I was in so much pain yesterday.

Was it the best decision in the long run? Yes. I didn't want to be in debt from dentist bill.

The loss of my pastor.

My heart is heavy today. After being gone to a weather conference in New Orleans this past weekend, I heard the news that our pastor passed away.  To me, it was unexpected since we didn't know he was sick.

Our church has been through so much these past 2 years.  Our former pastor left and Pastor Johnson became our new pastor.  A lot of people left because I guess they wanted to follow man instead of following God.

Pastor Johnson was a great man and did so much for our church these last two year he was pastor.  He took on a big responsible and came out at a time where all of us were mad, hurt and upset at what happened to our pastor and then the letting go of a lot of staff.  It took a while to warm up to him, but we fell in love with him and his teaching.  Thanks for the great 2 years you were our Pastor, Pastor Johnson

Pastor C. Michael Johnson 1955-2012.  RIP Pastor J.

New Orleans, here I come!!!

I'm excited to be going to the American Meteorological Society conference in New Orleans, LA this year.  The CEO of the weather company I do weather for online, Foot's Forecast,  invited me to come down there next weekend to the Student Conference and I couldn't say no.  I get to meet my fellow colleagues for the first time.

Since this year's outlook for my church is: "2012: The Year of Great Opportunities", I have a feeling I'm going to something good out of my trip to New Orleans next weekend.  My expectation is very high.

I'm looking to my trip to New Orleans next week.
